SkyWatch Friday - Pelican Flyby

As I mentioned in an earlier post I spent last Saturday walking around the edge of Mud Islands in Port Phillip Bay.  There were not many times when we could not see birds on the wing - or at least in the distance.

Its been a busy week - so here are some Australian Pelicans making the sky look as if they own it - which of course they may well do!

If you are a regular visitor to this site you you may experience slower then normal service in the "replying to comments" department!

You can find more skies from around the world at Sky Watch Friday.

Enjoy the skies.

  5. Neat photos as always. I have a memory of seeing pelicans in Yellowstone Park but my memory may be faulty because as I think of that it doesn't make sense.

  7. I love seeing the pelicans fly! These are wonderful and show that lovely black feathering on the ends of their wings. You think at first that the pelican is all white until they fly. So awesome. Sorry you've been super busy. Hope things settle down soon.

  18. Great pelican shots - somehow they manage to look quite elegant in the air! My ex-in-laws had a place on Phillip Island, and we used to spend time at Red Rocks beach!

  22. Fantastic pictures! Capturing birds in flight, with clarity, is always such a treat.

It is hard for a non-Aussie to fathom somebody considering trading a kangaroo sighting for an armadillo sighting, but if you are serious, you need to find a way to visit this southeastern-most of the United States. Armadillos are so common here that most people think of them as a nuisance (even though they aren't)!

  23. Don't you just love the way pelicans smile? They must be the most contented birds on earth.
