A Windy Sky

I've had an idea for a picture I want to take in my garden - it involves an interesting looking sky, on a windy day.

We have a row of birch trees in the garden, and they are very mobile in the wind - the aim of the picture is to be able to capture the stillness of the sky, but also the movement of the trees.  I suppose I feel this is the other way around to normal.  I think of the land (in this case the trees) as solid and the sky as mobile.

I'm going to keep working on this idea - but this is the best image so far.  Comments appreciated.

Pretty sky shot, Stewart! I am a tree-hugger, so any tree is beautiful to me. Have a happy weekend!

Indeed that's a lovely shot Stewart. I can actually imagine the birch trees swaying in the wind against the vivid sky! Beautiful!

The movement of the leaves (left upper corner) has been well captured. The scattered clouds do give the feeling of a windy day.

hard to catch the swaying in a static photo. :)

Looks like an ideal shot to try with a polarizing filter and convert to black and white.

Reminds me of the nursery poem "Who has seen the wind? Neither you nor I, but when the trees bow down their heads, the wind is passing by." So your photos will help us see the wind!

Interesting,it's only in the motion of objects that we do "see" the wind.
Quite a challenge you've given yourself...... great photo!
