We had two months rain fall over the weekend - which put a literal and metaphorical dampener on most of my plans! Just over 100mm of rain - which is just about what we would expect in all of December and January combined!!
So, here a couple of shots I took the weekend before: Australian Magpies lookinggood. I really like these birds, they seem to have both intelligence and personality, so what's not to like.

Such cool looking birds
Beautiful birds!
That’s a lot of rain in a short time!
Handsome bird. Maybe you will have a wildflower explosion after the rain.

Oh yes, they are wonderful characters... much pleasanter natures and very much prettier voices than the UK version! YAM xx
It is easy to forget that Australian Magpies are not corvids. They possess the same kind of swagger and panache, and they are pretty fearless too.
Lots of personality and a really really huge beak! Gosh. (I like the magpies we used to see in Eastern Oregon, but they are kinda' wimpy compared to yours.) Sorry about the rain. Sounds like western Oregon (which is why we're in Florida ;>)!
Sorry you coped the rains! We put the emergency evacuation plans in place for one Crazy Poodle, but we got off lightly, only one slightly soggy doggy in our area of Melbourne. Even the magpies look pleased with themselves!
What handsome locals!
Handsome birds!
Excellent photos of the Magpie!
Happy Week to you,
