The Killdear are famous for their 'broken wing" display to draw a predator away from the young ... too bad you couldn't video tape the Curlew display and their call. Maybe I will go to YouTube and see if I can find one. Your pictures are awesome and you did manage to capture a rather sizable baby. I love the idea of pre-chemical times. We have done so much damage and continue to do so even knowing what it is causing. Our biggest and latest issue is the diminished honey bee population. No bees, no produce, but they continue to use the offending chemical ... go figure. Well, had to come see you even though I am bogged done with many other things ... this is my nice break :) Be well, Stewart ...

Andra @ From The Sol Andrea @ From The Solhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00657271089899579261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5613882486442283643.post-10230032377534408272016-06-23T22:30:08.204+10:002016-06-23T22:30:08.204+10:00Crystal clear photos of them, Stewart, making futu...Crystal clear photos of them, Stewart, making future identification easier for folks like me!...)JPAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5613882486442283643.post-17561132187609945282016-06-23T19:30:56.980+10:002016-06-23T19:30:56.980+10:00Really great shots...Really great shots...Vineeta Yashsavihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17478215978379907361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5613882486442283643.post-47388453243184708312016-06-23T11:26:14.367+10:002016-06-23T11:26:14.367+10:00Great shots Stewart! Although I have seen many in the past while living in Texas and New Mexico, they rarely come to south Florida since I started photographing wildlife eight years ago. Arrived back last night with over 2000 photos to review and sort out! They nest on a disused airfield on the outskirts of Greater Manchester, and they're one of the best things about the summer there. Like you, I could and do spend ages watching them.
