Although there is a distinct autumnal feel in the air, Australia’s most annoying summer wildlife is still out and about.This is a Green Bottle – probably Lucilia sericata – but given that you have to start counting hairs on legs to be sure of such things this is just a guess based on probability. This type of Green Bottle is very (and I mean very!) common.
There are also two ants in the picture – but I have absolutely no idea at all what sort they are!

ReplyDeleteAlthough one of our dearest friends is an ant expert, I'm just glad that I can tell a bull-ant from a nasty bity hopper ant. Wish I could help you with identification.

ReplyDeleteI can imagine that fly must be a nuisance. Ours haven't emerged from hibernation yet - including the dreaded Scottish midge.
