Lost and painted.

I'm sure there must be a story behind this abandonded bike lock. Was it lost and then painted?  Did the owner come back to collect their bike only to find the lock still covered on wet green paint?  There must be a story!

I see this lock and seat every time I walk home - and I almost always wonder why or how.

I think you should make up a version of the story!

You can find more macro shots at Macro Monday 2 and I Heart Macro.

  1. quite odd that they would paint it in; you might think it more logical to put it on the ground next the seat and paint the seat? Owner of the bike-lock may still come back and find it....

  2. It never ceases to amaze me how many bike locks are abandoned in London, I suppose if you park there regularly it saves carrying a lock around!

  4. Handy for the lock to make a bench, the bike is not stolen so fast.
Color of the lock's fun, and it painted the bench.

  5. It would be hard to remove now that it is painted. Have a happy day!

  6. Very strange that it would be painted. Don't you think the painter was bothered that the lock was there and decided to paint right over it? So how long has it been there?

  11. I find it quite amusing. My mind takes it further has to a homeless person sleeping on the bench and...well you get the idea.

  15. Probably too complicated to remove before painting the bench?Would not like to sit there with the lock poking into my back!

  16. I do have a tendency to just paint over 'little' things if they happen to be in the way of my brush.. but I think I might have had to move something as big as this :) nicely spotted Stewart!

  22. Perhaps the bike was stolen. The thief simply left the lock secured to the bench ! There was no key hence the painter had no choice except to paint the bench along with lock :)
