Why?

There are a number of things I would like to ask about this phone - but the most obviuous is why does it need the "three" button?

  2. And why are there any buttons at all if the intent is for people to call just one number?

  3. good question ....especially it's so clearly marked for emergency calls only. It should be a direct line.

  7. If it is an extreme emergency you just push "3" and it dials up all three numbers in one for you.

  8. One might ask why there are any buttons at all, since it's for emergency use only. Great catch!

  9. Hi Stewart. It's so that British Secret Service agents can check in with base quickly. They moved to the single '3' after it was found that the old '007' was too cumbersome and a bit obvious, and they had to have something that was easily remembered.

  11. I had a good laugh over this! Maybe they plan to add a different number at some point, like 113, for another purpose. But my husband suggested they should just have ONE button that when you press it, it dials the 112 for you! Anyway, in this time of cell phones, it's nice to see that someone who doesn't have one, can still call for help!

  12. Maybe it is for folks too short to reach the 1 and 2.
