So, this Sunday I went on a Magpie safari. Much as ever, the sight of a grown man sticking a rather large lens out of the window of his car, or balancing it on a bean-bag on top of a fire hydrant, or worse of all, laying flat on his stomach on the nature strip to get pictures did cause a bit of interest. I say that these people need to get a hobby!
One of the birds seems very pleased to have his (or her) picture taken and I was more than happy to oblige!

Interesting the difference in the markings to our magpies. We had one outside our back door yesterday but as soon as I picked up the camera it was gone :-(( Diane

ReplyDeleteWe have a few varieties of blackbirds around here but no magpies. Durn it. They are attractive critters.

ReplyDeleteYou can just see the brain churning in this little character. Wouldn't you love to know what he is thinking ... you may be right, he may be thinking you need to get a hobby :) But, after all, he seems to enjoy being in the lime light. Great series ... I love the Magpies. They are ornery little critters and fun to watch.

ReplyDeleteI love magpies and you've captured them beautifully here. I have my family of maggies that hang around my cabin...I toss out meat scraps to the birds every afternoon...so I have my regulars who visit me daily...and keep their eyes out for me during the day. They all treat me in return with their melodious songs...the kookas, maggies, butcherbirds and currawongs. It's a win-win situation for both the birds and for me.
