A week at The Prom

Wilsons Promontory is the southern most part of the state of Victoria - it sticks out into Bass Straight, pointing at Tasmania - the largest remaining part of a land bridge that once connect the mainland to the southern state.  Whenever I go to the Prom, I am struck by the though that people were once able to walk to Tasmania, and that this land bridge has flooded during this history of Australia's occupation.  Climate Change anybody?

We had a mix of weather - and this produced a mix of pictures.

    It's glowering fiercely outside my window today - bit like the third one here - or worse! Think you managed to get the only bit of Summer available to Scotland on your recent visit!!! Have glanced back through - you managed some great shots in between the working &*> (I've got 1500 to sort through from my trip now.....sigh... self-inclicted!) YAM xx

    The second and third pictures are gorgeous..Love the contrast of the sky and landscape..Great shots..Not the kind of Prom I remember..;)

    Are we looking at Tasmania across the water? I am thinking you might be glad there is a separation (even though, like you, I regret the cause of it). Tasmanian Devils are just as well left on their own over there, don't you think? You have managed to capture beauty even in a muddy wet place ... there is no end to your talent, Stewart :)

    How beautiful! Interesting that there used to be a land bridge. The earth has gone through a lot of changes over the millenniums...
