It's another photo essay this week - although there is some sign of relaxation on the horizon!
These birds are Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans) and it's not hard to see where that common name came from!
These bird were regular, if rather timid, visitors to the house we rented in Halls Gap, in the Grampians a few week ago. This is where a long lens is very useful. I managed to get a pictures of these birds on a couple of mornings, but I may have to leave some for a later date.
These guys are adults, and they really are these colours!

It's another cracking bird Stewart. There does seem equal amounts of blue and crimson though.

ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favourite cloured birds from Australia Stewaart. Toa anseryou question. No I have not seen any cygnets yet a bit eary but I have seen several sets of ducklings )see saturday's post and today I saw a goose with her 3 gosleys at out Ward Park. ReplyDeletethey are lovely and as you say. Had a fair few of them up around us, but unlike the cockies and the loris, or the kookas and the maggies, the just sat and watched. Their beautiful ringing call was always a delight. YAM xx
