Wild Bird Wednesday 409 - Rainbow Lorikeet

Some more pictures from the same weekend as last week.  I wonder what stories we will tell about this time in years to come.

It's not really all that easy is it?

These are Rainbow Lorikeets (Trichoglossus moluccanus).  They must be one of the more colourful birds in the world.

Bright colours and remarkable things are what we need right now I think.

  1. A male Ruby-throated Hummingbird has been visiting our yard quite regularly over the past few days; he appears quite drab when compared to a lorikeet. What a fabulous bird! What memories I have of them!

  12. They are certainly stunning to look at and very amusing to watch, but they drive me mad in the garden. We very rarely get any of our fruit ripe enough to eat ourselves.

  15. Well glad you are home safe and sound and a wonderful bird you are sharing with us today. I only saw a few parrots while I was there and they were well hidden and very hard to take pictures of. But, thanks to you, I have many wonderful pictures and memories of that time.
