Due to the restrictions of C19 I am only allowed to take 'exercise' walks outside at present - I am not sure if that really includes bird watching! I could mount the argument that if I am carrying my longest lens and a tripod I really am doing some exercise!
However, I had no camera equipment with me yesterday when I went for a walk - but I still managed to see 10 species of parrot between leaving my front door and coming home.
These are the species I saw - although I did not take these picture yesterday, they have been gleaned from the archives!
It would be reasonable to say that this does not happen every day - and it may not really happen in many places in the world really.

The mere thought if seeing ten species of parrot on a morning walk seems like pure fantasy to most of us, Stewart. Let's get this pandemic over and done with so that I can hie myself back to Australia next year. You and I would have been together right now. Damn! Damn! Damn!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great variety of parrot species. I think that if you had carried your camera you might have only had time for maybe the first three as you would have been so busy taking pictures of them.

ReplyDeleteAs for your question about the home-made pickles. We think the flavor is a nice balance between sweet and tart. The vinegar and spices in the recipe keeps them from being too sweet.

A great collection of photos! I actually saw two adult Crimson Rosellas flying past on my exercise walk yesterday. I've only seen them around my area a few times, and previously on young green birds.
ReplyDeleteChecking the details of the rules when lockdown returned, it seems that a bit more outdoor activity is allowed compared to last time. My interpretation of the restrictions this time is that birding would be considered ok. But of course they recommend only going to your local parks (which is obviously sensible!) - unfortunately I don't have anywhere very birdy super close to me! You seem to be in a better spot with all your parrots! ; )
It must be great to have so many different birds around! Thanks for sharing them and I'm glad you can get out for some exercise.
