Wild Bird Wednesday 471 - Black Swans

Black Swans (Cygnus atratus) are a common sight in Australia - assuming you can get out of your house!

These birds we just loafing around in the sun at Werribee last week - and I happened to find them in one of the few bursts of sunshine that broke through the clouds on Friday.  That was my first day out in a while and I have to say even if the birding was quiet by the normal standards of the site, it was great to finally get out again.

  4. Our local city park procured two pairs of Black Swans many years ago. It has been a treat watching them raise a family each year.
Thank you for sharing your photographs.

Here's hoping your current incarceration is short-lived!

  11. Great photos!
I always think of swans as white. I forget there are black ones, too!

  12. They are very graceful. Glad you had a chance to get out. Our situation here in Florida is worsening with the Delta variant and the protests by anti0mask and anti-vaccine activists.
