Given that the temperature were VERY high I was rather pleased to get any pictures of anything! Its hard to focus with sweat in your eyes and taxis stooping insisting that you need to be rescued!
This is a White-Eared Bulbul. Its not the most remarkable bird in the world - but there is a good story attached to it.
The arabic for bird is pronounced "bul", so this is a White-Eared BirdBird!

I like the reeds (?) he's perched on. Makes it look like he's sitting on a really large open weaved basket. :)

Beautiful shots of this bird bird Stewart. :-) It's amazing some of the things we do for our photos. I know my camera has coaxed me to do things which I wouldn't do in the past... like melt in the hot sun, or go on huge Ferris Wheels. All in good fun.

I agree with Debbie ... at first glance I thought it was a chicadee ... but, I love the little BirdBird. He is adorable, also like a Chicadee. Nice post Stewart. It would seem your Dubai visit was well worth while.

ReplyDeleteBulbul, I believe is a word of Arabic origin (used in Hindi too) - although it means some kind of a songbird. (I am not sure)
It is always great to see a new bird even in the heat.
