Through the snow brightly

This will probably be the last image from Arizona (although you never know!)

By the middle of the afternoon of my trip to the Grand Canyon it was snowing in a rather spectacular fashion - well, spectacular enough for somebody who lives in Melbourne, which is not at all snowy.

This view was taken from our last stop on the Southern Rim, and as you can see there was a small break in the distant clouds which allowed some distance rock faces to peep through.

Some of the blurs and specks in the image are large snow-flakes!

This picture really does look better when it is bigger - so click on it to see its full glory!!

More pictures can be found at Sky Watch Friday.

  7. What a wonderful shot. Despite its appearance as a dry hot place, it gets remarkably cold there.

  8. You got some gorgeous photos of the Grand Canyon! I had to go back and look at the posts I've missed. You got some great Arizona bird photos too.
As I look out the window today I see great big snow flakes flying. Enough already!

  15. Well, Arizona isn't know for heavy snows. I am glad you were able to get a taste of it while you were there and it certainly allowed you to get some beautiful pictures. This one is spectacular. I think I told you I have never seen the Grand Canyon in the winter ... I think you may have had a choice opportunity by being there at this time of year. Great post, Stewart ...

  17. It really is even more gorgeous embiggened! Usually I'd feel kind of bad for someone vacationing in AZ if they got snow, but it was a nice treat for you.

  18. How beautiful. This photo fills my eyes--which is the greatest compliment I can give.

I have loved Australia since I was eight years old, when we learned of your country in third grade.

  21. If only I would have known you wanted to see snow! We had a delightful little snow storm in Ohio this past weekend.
Still, it wasn't as beautiful as the Grand Canyon!
