This is the mouth of the Pieman River - basically looking west from here there is nothing but sea until you reach South America - that is a remarkable thought really.
Many of the logs on the beach are natural, washed down in floods, but a few were obviously escaped felled trees that had been floated down the river years ago.
If you look really hard at the sky you can see South America!
You can see more skies at Sky Watch Friday.
Hi Stewart,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the mouth of the river.

ReplyDeleteAs a little kid I spent more time beach combing than sleeping. There is something majical about finding something unexpected on the beach.
ReplyDeletePrachtig de werking van het water.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely beach Stewart!
ReplyDeleteGreat beach shots
ReplyDeleteA beach created from a river's silt and debris is quite artistic. Interesting views of the bits and pieces there.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your comment on my blog, the view of the Spirit of Tasmania from Dromana beach was on Australia Day - I mentioned this right under the photo because the resting seal, also visible, was a bonus that day. Perhaps I should have said the recent Australia Day. Thank you so much for your visit.
Nice photos - very moody!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed both posts on this interestingly named river; it is beautiful country there! Cool to take both the Kayak and the tour boats.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Pictures. I'd have to look a long way south to see South America. But I used to be able to see Canada across the river from where I lived.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a wild coastline.
ReplyDeleteDramatically beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove these shots. And all the sand makes me miss the ocean badly again! Have an amazing weekend, Stewart :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Stewart.
ReplyDeleteWhat an enormous amount of driftwood in the water, this would be quite a find for beachcombers.:) The long shots of the sea view stretching all the way to South America are awesome.
ReplyDeleteStunning, desolate beach! The thought of S America being across that expanse of ocean does stir the imagination! Love your photos!
ReplyDeleteLife is a battle, if you don't know how to defend yourself then you'll end up being a loser.
ReplyDeleteSo, better take any challenges as your stepping stone to become a better person. Have fun,
explore and make a lot of memories.
