The Pieman River 2 - On The Beach

This is the mouth of the Pieman River - basically looking west from here there is nothing but sea until you reach South America - that is a remarkable thought really.

Many of the logs on the beach are natural, washed down in floods, but a few were obviously escaped felled trees that had been floated down the river years ago.

If you look really hard at the sky you can see South America!

You can see more skies at Sky Watch Friday.

  7. As a little kid I spent more time beach combing than sleeping. There is something majical about finding something unexpected on the beach.

  11. A beach created from a river's silt and debris is quite artistic. Interesting views of the bits and pieces there.

Regarding your comment on my blog, the view of the Spirit of Tasmania from Dromana beach was on Australia Day - I mentioned this right under the photo because the resting seal, also visible, was a bonus that day. Perhaps I should have said the recent Australia Day. Thank you so much for your visit.

  16. Beautiful Pictures. I'd have to look a long way south to see South America. But I used to be able to see Canada across the river from where I lived.
