Just a brief post today to show you some of the crazily coloured fish I encountered during an afternoons fishing on you know where.
The first is a Bluefish - which is a fish which is blue! And the second is Surge Wrasse, which really is the most insanely colourful fish I have ever seen! The guy in the hat? Well, the less said the better!
You can find more pictures of animals from around the world over at Saturday Critters.
Amazing colours. They look like they should be in some exotic fish aquarium.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the previous comment. Hope they tasted as good as they looked.
ReplyDeleteNature is so awesome.

ReplyDeleteOh that takes me back to my own day on the waters round LHI... it is just such a special place. I didn't get anything like as good a piccie as that one of the blue fish though!!! YAM xx
I imagine the wrasse is beautiful eating...the Maori Wrasse are.
ReplyDeleteAre bluefish good eating, Stewart? I read somewhere that bluefish are called Tailor in Australia, but that bluefish is not at all like a tailor - not in any way...and, I know what tailor look like. I used to catch many tailor during our frequent visits to Fraser Island and off the beach at Teewah and Double Island Point also, when my ex and I lived at the Sunshine Coast
Aha! I just did some further research and here in Aus, the bluefish are also called "blue drummer"; and as far as their eating quality goes...I imagine if upon catching they're treated the same way tailor is when caught....bled, cleaned and filleted immediately...they'd make for excellent eating.
These are so beautiful one would think they were ceramic sculptures created by an artist.
ReplyDeleteWow, those fish are gorgeous? WAs it a catch and release or did you eat those puppies?
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful and so big, i cannot finish one in a week!
ReplyDeleteGreat Cauthen and wonderful colouring.
ReplyDeletegreat catch Stewart
ReplyDeleteHello Stewart, they are beautiful colored fish. Great photos! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteNature is an amazing artist. Those fish are gorgeous and the crazy person isn't bad looking either. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo, that 'blue' fish is clearly brown, or possibly black?? :)
ReplyDeleteLove the wrasse, which is actually the 'blue' fish that I asked Ian about (didn't seem to be interested in fish??)
Also, stop telling people about LHI, people may want to go there.
Cheers, Di
Spectacular fish. Our bluefish aren't nearly that blue!

ReplyDeleteWishing you a magical weekend,
artmusedog and carol
These are two of the most beautiful fish I have ever seen. My husband being a fisherman, I called him in to look at them and he agreed. The second one really left him in awe. It was the blue of the first one that did it for me.
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty! I do not want to be cruel but, how they tasted? I imagine they were eaten.
ReplyDeleteOh my, who knew? Nature is a digital artist :) And there is no explaining the guy in the hat :) Looks like the best kind of fishing to me ... lucky, lucky you!
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From THe Sol
WOW! Very colourful!
ReplyDeleteYou should start a contest - would you rather kiss the guy in the hat or the fish he is holding? My wife has already voted but I can't divulge her response!
