These rather over excited birds were feeding on the scraps of somebodies lunch in George Square in Glasgow. Later in my trip to Scotland, when I was on Orkney I saw some (real) Rock Doves from which all of these feral (and domesticated) pigeons are descended. Unfortunately, the wild birds were not as cooperative.
I have to say I rather like the bird that seems to enjoy riding on the other ones!
cheers - SM
Funny I love to see Pigeons but have never taken a photo of one, I keep meaning to though lol.
ReplyDeleteHello Stewart, that is a lot of pigeons. They must feel safe hanging out together! Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteIndividually, the birds are gorgeous. But the enormous flocks make me go ick. There's a bakery a few miles down the road from us that throws out old bread. The place as you can imagine, has a million moochers hanging around all the time. I think I'd drive down the highway a bit to discard the bread for them. Just me.
ReplyDelete"City birds"..The one that hitch hikes has a different coloring than the others..or was it the lighting?? Good shots but I'm betting that you didn't have to go to a lot of trouble to get them ;)
ReplyDeleteHello Stewart!:) Pigeons are actually very beautiful birds. I like the iridescent colours of the hitchhiker in your last photo.
ReplyDeleteHaha!!! The birds no one ever thinks to photograph!!! The alpha bird riding on the back of the other one does have a pretty iridescence to his feathers! I like the last two shots! Call me a minimalist!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are terrible, but I don't belief that, they are lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! The last one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a beautiful week-end!

Very nice urban scene!
ReplyDeleteThe Lion looks terrified. Wonder why :)
Have a Happy Weekend!
Peace :)
I like your photo of the pigeon on top of the pile!

ReplyDeletePigeons are pretty, but perhaps less so in big flocks. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteha, ha, the guy on the back must be a fighter with a motto 'over someones dead or alive body'
ReplyDeleteNice choice of subject - a highly underrated bird - and great shots.
