Those lucky few (!) who have traveled with me in areas that posses squirrels will already know that I am very fond of then, even when they are abundant. So it will be know surprise to find out that I really enjoyed watching them, and was even distracted by them when other, somewhat rarer wildlife was about!
The Five-Striped Palm Squirrel are typically 225 to 400mm long (including their tail) and weigh between 60 and 200g. They are excellent climbers and in a should be described as deeply good value!
Strangely, I have just discovered that there are some feral populations of this species in Australia, and are considered a pest here as a result.

It is wonderful to see your enthusiasm for these little palm squirrels; they really are "good value" with those striking stripes. It is funny how we can be so easily distracted by a common animal's charm even when rarer wildlife is right nearby. I had no idea they had become such a pest in Australia, but they certainly look right at home in the trees of Northern India.

I have finally given up on feeding birds, since in reality I am only feeding squirrels. In the days before removing my feeders for the last time, there were no less than nine squirrels in the yard. A delight for you, no doubt, but a bane to my existence. Having said all of that, they are indeed charming little animals, and I would have very much enjoyed this fine fellow.
