Barrow Creek

Barrow Creek is almost 300km north of Alice Springs and has a current population of 11.

This ute was a bit of a local landmark.  When things go wrong here, they have a tendency to stay wrong.  The owner of the fuel station / shop / pub that makes up most of Barrow Creek told us he spends about $180 a day on diesel to run the electrical generators.

Its a strange kind of place.

As you may be able to tell from these pictures - it was hot here too!

You can find more shots from around the world at Our World Tuesday.  SM

I can't imagine living in a place like that and I don't understand how or why it exists with just a population of 11.

One wonders how anyone ever ends up in such places - and stays! Atmosphere and then some. YAM xx

Wow, what a desolate place! I can see why it only has a population of 11.

I think I have had cars that looks like that! It sure is a forbidding landscape. I guess there's no chamber music society in that town, no delicatessen, no anxiety therapy clinic......maybe soon no population!
