Chipmunks are a rodent with an omnivorous diet including seeds, nuts and other fruits, and buds. They may also eat grass and shoots, as well as fungi, insect, small frogs, worms, and bird eggs. As you can see they do not mind dining at bird feeding stations either.
I have just discovered that there are 25 species of Chipmunk - which is a bit of a surprise, but also rather wonderful!
Cheers. SM

ReplyDeleteThey have an extra level of cuteness, no doubt. The Indian Palm Squirrel looks so similar - but lacks the cheek pouches and has a rather larger, bushier (more squirrel-like) tail... Ah... Nature... YAM xx
Rest assured they are all Eastern Chipmunk, Stewart, the poster child for rodent cuteness in this area.
ReplyDeleteSquirrel is always positively spirited and agile.
ReplyDeleteAlways loved these sweet little animals when I grew up back east. Thank you Stewart
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of this cute little animal!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Love those critters. They disappear underground in the winter but are active here the remainder of the year!
ReplyDeleteTa wiewiórka jest urocza i kompletnie inna niż nasze wiewiórki europejskie. Gratuluje udanych zdjęć.
