There is a good chance I have the ID wrong - what are peoples thoughts?
Anyway, assuming it is a White-Throated Sparrow it's a rather dapper looking bird, and I was pleased to see a sparrow with such colourful plumage - I was brought up with much less flamboyant sparrows. This bird is common in bushy patches and in mixed woodlands - which is exactly the type of habits I saw it in!
Sorry this post is a wee bit short - I have a lot on today!

ReplyDeletePretty sure your ID is correct, Stewart... and, perhaps, an indication of how the seasons are changing. I know that some Canadian palls have noted the American Robin has been staying with them, which is unusual... Lovely shots! YAM xx

ReplyDeleteThere are always a few overwintering White-throated Sparrows in southern Ontario, Stewart. I saw one a few days ago at Riverside Park in Cambridge. Snowy Owl is relatively easy to find this winter.
ReplyDeleteThe White-throated Sparrows migrate in the fall from PEI. Love seeing them in the spring again. These are great photos!
