Show us your muscles.

One of the things that I enjoy most about the summer, is that I can get to go snorkelling.  Now, we are not normally talking about coral reefs here - but even the cooler water of SE Australia can be remarkable.

One day I'll get something a little more sophisticated that a waterproof point and shoot - one day!

These shots are taken around Picnic Bay, nr. Coles Bay in Tasmania.

I really like the way the the water surface acts like a mirror - and if the truth be told, I'm never sure out these underwater images will turn out.

I was happily looking at the rock formations - and the muscles - when I happened upon the smooth ray.  This thing is the best part of five or six feet across!  I just pointed and shot!  It was only when I had a look at the picture on the computer that I saw that the ray had some companion fish!  I rather like that!

  5. your shots made me thirsty...or it may have been that I still need to hydrate from my beach hike yesterday. 84 degrees and the sun cooked me.

  13. I love your underwater shots ... they actually are very artistic and lend themselves to digital dabbling.
Your Ray is magnificent and I see a face ... don't you? You could make him look very goulish if you so desired :) My son Scuba dives and I am so jealeous of both of you ... my body is too buoyant, I could never get under the water, Ha! That is one thing that is not on my bucket list. But I am glad you have the opportunity and I am guessing you will develop this skill to perfection as you have others. Have a great day, Stewart ...

  18. I didn't see any mussels. Ray was there, though...and he looked like he'd have a few muscles. He probably ate all the mussels.

  23. Well done Stewart - looks like the "point & shoot" does a great job anyway; very artistic. And I have to say you're very brave to tackle scuba-diving in Tasmanian waters - I imagine the water temperatures to be very cold?!
