Brighton 1

After my time 'up north' I head back 'down south' to the seaside town of Brighton.  I had never been there before - and wondered what it would be like.

These are some of the shots I took on my first walk along the sea front - I leave it to you to work out how I was feeling.

You can find more shots from around the world at Our World Tuesday.  SM

Hello Stewart, great series from the seaside. I really like the gull on the seafood/sushi sign. Have a great new week ahead!

My guess you were thinking of being in a more remote wilderness setting with more nature and birds and far away from the tourist scene. At least that would have been my feelings. I like the gull on the sushi board.

It looks like our Atlantic City..Very busy.."commercial"..The "sand" looks very coarse..like gravel?? I love coastline almost anywhere..Have a good week Stewart.

It does indeed remind me of our Atlantic City! Great shots for the day, Stewart, as always, and I do LOVE the gull!! Looks like he's helping advertise the seafood and sushi!! Have a great new week, Stewart!!

I also have never been there except maybe when I was a small child and I don't remember. I am amazed it is so quiet and it does not look cold! Diane

The beach cannot compare to those of the North East but Brighton has everything you expect of the sea-side with its fish and chips and ice cream and of course the seagulls to steal them from you. Were you there on your own? The photos have a melancholic air about them.

Sign of the times...modern day seagulls have given up fish & chips for sushi! The shame of it all!! :)

I'd guess it wasn't your favorite place in the world, but you made the best of it. We took a bus to Brighton when we were staying in London and we were trying to hit as many places as we could get to on public transportation. It was fun to see the ocean and sand, since we were living in a city flat. But it wouldn't be my choice for a vacation getaway.

I am reminded of the show, "Foyle's War" :)

Ah - Brighton, my Brighton! Nice shots. It's become so busy down there these days that I hardly ever visit anymore.

Very pretty there. I bet you were feeling a bit nostalgic. (That's how I feel when I visit the Atlantic Ocean, which is where I spent my childhood.)

It's somewhere I've never been, but now I've seen your pictures I feel I don't have to. Thanks for sharing.
