Go on, just one more parrot, please Stewart!
OK, OK, but promise you'll go to sleep after I show you one more parrot!
Yes Stewart, we promise!
Well here are some King Parrots. You can find them in the hills behind Melbourne. They used to be common in some of the towns that were burnt to the ground in the Black Saturday fires - so although they are genuinely splendid birds, they do carry some ghosts.
You can find heaps more splendid birds here at World Bird Wednesday.

They are beautiful and colorful birds. I would never get tired of seeing your photos of these parrots. Great shots and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThey really are splendidly colourful birds. Odd that in over 20 years in Melbourne and wandering the bush I had never seen them until we stayed in Omeo. After that I saw them next in Noogee sitting like tame birds at the outdoor restaurant tables. Now, whenever we go bush in Vic., there they are. Is it just a matter of perception?
ReplyDeleteBeautifully photographed Stewart. That red and green are not so easy to capture.
An absolute beauty... lovely images of your oh so colourful bird.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for sharing.
Wonderful captures of these beautiful, colorful birds! Was a lot of their habitat destroyed in the fires?
ReplyDeleteSplendid Stewart, and yes, I promise to go to sleep now! You wouldn't catch me complaining if you showed parrots for the next hundred years. Loved Arija's comments too, perception is the secret to finding birds.
ReplyDeleteCheers to you good Sir on this fine post!
