Blue

Near the end of a snorkelling trip in the lagoon at Lord Howe Island we found this large patch of purple / lavender / blue coral.  I am not experienced in the ways of coral reefs, but I have say I found this most remarkable.

I like the colour in these pictures, but also the addition of a fish or two in each pictures.

If you get the chance to go to LHI, take it.

You can find more shots from around the world at Our World Tuesday.

  2. It is a remarkable colour, Stewart. You are fortunate to even have access to coral reefs. Most people have never had the chance to observe one. If you show up for one of my walks I can show you coral fungi in the fall but reefs are out of the question I fear.

  9. Amazing! I am not a good swimmer and am afraid of water but I did do a very small bit of snorkelling at Green Island in the GBR. It was enough to see so many fish that I've never seen before and give me a wonderful memory. I'm sure you will always remember the blue coral experience.
