Faces from the Festival

I have just come back from some time in the Northern Territory - which involved a stay in Alice Springs and then a road trip north to Darwin, via Kakadu.  There will be many pictures to follow.

The reason for the stay in Alice was that Sal (and her choir) were singing in a festival called The Desert Songs Festival which was based in and around Alice.  The last event of the festival was an open air performance by many of the choirs in Ormiston Gorge.  The gorge provided some rather wonderful natural acoustics, and the faces and costumes of the singers provided more than enough photo opportunities for me.

I don't really take many pictures of people, so I rather pleased with these.

  4. My husband and I have been to Alice Springs. We loved learning about the Aboriginal people while we were there. Red soil too, like home!

  6. Thanks for posting these really interesting pictures, Stewart. It is quite wonderful to see so much joy and the intermingling of people of different backgrounds, all bound by a common love of music. Thank goodness Sally is a member of Chime, which has enabled you to experience an event such as this. And to do it with the whole family makes it even more special. The opportunities for you all to be together for family vacations diminish with each passing year as the kids become adults. You will no doubt remember this adventure forever. We watched a segment of the open air performance with the great natural acoustics, and I really wished I could have been there. Kudos to Sally for her commitment to the choir, and congratulations to all four of you for showing us what a family should be.
