Wild Bird Wednesday 440 - White Terns

Well, this is the last WBW for 2020 - a year which we won't forget, but will be glad to be rid of.

I thought I'd end the year with some pictures of simple light and beauty.  These are White Terns (Gygis alba) on Lord Howe Island.  One of my favourite birds, in one of my favourite places.

Lets all hope that 2021 will lead us back to these kinds of places and times.

So, with my best wishes I will sign out for 2020 and hope to see you all again in 2021.   Stay safe, stay well.  SM

Although Sydney is having a resurgence, it does seem OZ has got things pretty well controlled. Same cannot be said for this side of the globe, as no doubt you have heard. And when reports are coming out that the most that can be vaccinated by end of 2021 is half - yes HALF - of UK's pop'n, then it has to be said, there is some way to go yet... unless, like the 1918 pandemic, it just works its own way out as people learn the etiquette of 'hands, face, space'.

Nothing beats watching birds in flight, care free and frolicsome, to ease the mind and heart! All the best to you and yours, Stewart. YAM xx

  10. Those terns are so beautiful and graceful! I saw similar ones in Hawaii. They laid their eggs on bare tree branches, I believe. Best wishes and have a very happy and health New Year!
