Wild Bird Wednesday 481 - Long-billed Corella (and a video)

Recently I met a new local birder, and we spent a coupe of hours wandering around Wattle Park, a park on my local patch.

During that time we found a flock of over 25 Long-billed Corellas (Cacatua tenuirostris) and a single Little Corella as well, just for variety!

These are some of the Long-billed Corellas.

After the trip, Guillaume (the new birder!) asked if I would be interviewed for his birding video / podcast channel.  Of course I said yes! Maybe you would like to have a listen to what I have to say - or at least after 481 WBWs you find out what I look and sound like!

So, with a little bit of new content, its over to you.  Click the link to join in with WBW.  SM

    1. ...I'm back - that was BRILLIANT!!! I am with you on the 'slow and appreciate' and that sparrows can be as fun to watch as the gulls and herons and magpies and that one cheeky robin (that's about the extent of it from the Hutch's windows) and then comes the thrill when the Mr and Mrs Jackdaw show up - or that pass through of the goldfinches and fieldfares... YAM xx

  2. Well I was surprised to see the video and although I have not watched it all (yet but I will) I agree with the "surprise and wildness" you mentioned. Yesterday I was in my front garden working and I heard this twittering in, looked up and was delighted to see 4 Long tailed Tits. What a surprise and a delight for me. Not an uncommon bird but not often seen in my garden. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing the rest of it.

  5. Hello Stewart, I really enjoyed the video, and I did watch it all the way through. The element of surprise and wonder at seeing a bird in an unexpected place is magic. I'm not a birder but do love birds and all wild creatures, and the only reason I don't link up , is because I don't seem to be able to do it.
    Best regards.

  9. A celebrity is born! Simply brilliant, Stewart!
It's comforting to hear from someone who truly "gets it" where Nature is concerned. Bravo!

Icing on the cake: Gorgeous Corellas!
