While we were in the UK's Lake District we went for a bit of a walk near Buttermere - in good weather its a wonderful place, and it's pretty good in dismal weather too.
Unfortunately the weather on our walk was at the dismal end of the spectrum! Oh well - the sausage rolls in the cafe were mighty fine!

Hard to think we were walking in this place when so much of Australia is on fire.
You can find more shots from around the world at Our World Tuesday. Cheers. SM

ReplyDeleteBy Jove, your young fellow is transforming into a fine young man! I was thinking about you in the Lakes as we watched and heard from connections down below. A cousin has just taken off to be with her family in Melbourne. All my near and dear have remained safe at this point - though a little too close for comfort in some parts. If only you could pack some of that UK climate and transport with you. YAM xx
In all of the beautiful corners of the UK, the Lake District surely has to be ranked in the top five. Hamish is morphing into a young man right before our eyes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in its dreariness..Love the woodsy colors in the first picture..Your son is becoming quite the handsome young man..So sad about the fires in Australia..Sounds very similar to California..Probably a larger area?? I hope the weather clears up for you..Sausages!! Was that your pork for the New Year??
ReplyDeleteDreary is beautiful too...just not as pleasant to experience! The lake photos look very much like a lake in Mammoth Lakes CA...similar shore line and mountain rim!
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful countryside for a wander!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR Stewart. Beautiful countryside.
ReplyDeleteSorry for Australia...
ReplyDeleteWonderful landscapes in your post.
Enjoy your days!
Despite the cloudy skies, the spot has its charm. How are things for you there in Australia? Smoke in your eyes?
ReplyDeleteHello. Beautiful place. Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been missing a while and actually came by to “check on you” because of the terrible fires, not good enough in my geography to know where you are in relation to them (I mean when you are home of course). Glad you and your family are safe and enjoying a great holiday away and pray that the fires are soon contained.
ReplyDeleteI have to say if I lived in Australia I would not be visiting Europe in winter unless like us generally we have to!! Lovely set of photos. Cheers Diane
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look too dismal! Lovely pics.
ReplyDeleteWszyscy współczujemy Australii! To jest dramat dla całego świata!
ReplyDeleteMasz rację! Ciężko podziwiać takie cudne brytyjskie krajobrazy, kiedy Australia płonie!
I'd love to explore this beautiful area -- in rainy or sunny weather!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful country, even in cloudy, misty times.
