There is something about this image I like. I spent more than a few minutes trying to catch Welcome Swallows in flight – and most of the images ended up in the bin.
I think this captures the speed and movement of the bird, even if you would not use it as a ‘field guide’ shot.
You can find more birds from around the world at World Bird Wednesday.

Enjoy the birds.
This photo made me smile, Stewart, because I spent quite a while last weekend trying to capture a tree swallow in flight. They really do fly fast and turn corners quickly too. :)
ReplyDeletei like it very much! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, beautiful swallow.
ReplyDeleteI do love seeing birds in flight! Great capture for the day, Stewart! Hope your week is going well!

Indeed it is a lovely image, Stewart. My first thought about it was "a visual haiku!" :-)
ReplyDeleteI must say that watching swallows fly is one of my all time favorite things Stewart, and this is an excellent shot. I have a few decent swallow in flight shots and they took a long time to get ;-)
ReplyDeleteThere is something special about the nature and habits of Swallows.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your sweet flight shot of one in Australia. Didn't know y'all had them.:)
Nice photo and I like all the sky because that's how swallows are usually seen.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture you show.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's incredibly difficult to "shoot" birds.
Many of my "shot" is also thrown away.
Wishing you a good day.

It looks great! I love these blue sky and flying birds photos, their free moving in the air makes me hope. . .
ReplyDeleteHappy days to you!
Fascinating picture!
ReplyDeleteYou can be proud.
Thanks for sharing
You captured the flying svallow just beautifully! :)
ReplyDeleteNice find, great photo.
ReplyDeletePretty swallow in flight. I have tried so hard to capture a swallow in flight, it is hard. Well done, Stewart.
ReplyDeleteI too was amused as I recently tried very hard to do the same and only managed to get a more than soft focus shot by a fluke.
ReplyDeleteWell done Stewart!
those welcome swallows are hard to capture; you did great Stewart
ReplyDeleteSwallows are hard to get in flight. Great job. Bloom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the difficulty I have in capturing a photo of dragonflies.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The photo speaks of the freedom and swiftness of this bird.
ReplyDeleteIt has context Stewart!
ReplyDeleteCheers Sir!
Good morning Stewart! I ADORE Swallows and that is a beautiful capture!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great clear flight image, Stewart. Welcome swallows must be on the photography menu as I posted about them too for WBW.
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the barn swallow. We have them too so I know what it takes to get a shot like yours. But it is fun to do it. :)
