Although we try to grow vegetables in our raised beds I can't resist popping in a couple of sunflower seeds as well. I love the shear spectacle of their flowers - this year only one of the seeds got its act together - so this flower is getting special attention.
Its also a sure sign that we are in the real summer - no more of this phoney "It may be summer, but maybe not" kind of weather.
I like the flowers - and it seems the visiting bee does as well.
You can find more shots from around the world at Our World Tuesday.
Enjoy the pictures.
They always seem to be smiling at you.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful flowers and attract the good insects to shove off the baddies and also if you want to you could harvest the sunflower seeds which totally justifies you growing one or two!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and happy bees!! The best time of the year! Great shot for the day, Stewart! Have a good week!
ReplyDeletePretty! And aren't sunflowers or marigolds supposed to be good to plant around or near veg gardens? Keeps the bugs away or encourages the bees something? (Been so long since I gardened I can't remember.)
ReplyDeletei know australia is huge. arija has posted about the extreme heat you're having and now i see the wildfires making the news. i dread those headlines from near or far. i hope the summer will be not-so-brutal for you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great sunflower! Mine never grow that big. Hope it's cooling off a bit over there.

ReplyDeleteDimi..
It's so weird to know that you're experiencing summer while I am burning wood in the fireplace. Brrrr! Love the sunflower. They're so big and bright and happy. I've tried to grow them, but my dogs end up peeing on them, and I lose them. I'll enjoy yours. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that sunflower. I should plant some rather than relying on the squirrels to bury the seeds and have them sprout up all over the place.
ReplyDeleteThat a great sunflower shot!! Love the vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cheerful shot!
ReplyDeleteI won't be seeing those for a while. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The color is remarkable!
ReplyDeleteLike TexWis, I think of you whenever I hear news of Australia, even though I know it is a vast country. I hope all is well with you and your family. One of many things I love about visiting your blog is the opportunity to remember that the other side of the world is in a different season. Absolutely delightful sunflower.
ReplyDeleteI always loved them! They remind me of summer. Bees and ants...
