By the early afternoon the sky over Werribee Sewage works was putting on a bit of a cloud show. The birds that we had banded had left the Big Mud and headed off elsewhere.
I love the scale of this picture. The open spaces, the distance, the colour - and I suppose I find it amusing that its a sewage works! (or, if the truth be told for this part, it used to be!).
You can find more skies (and probably less mud) at SkyWatch Friday.
Enjoy the pictures.
I like your low-flying clouds. Isn't it great how the cycle goes, stinking sewage + time = bird habitat.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies and clouds, Stewart, and a great capture as always -- wherever it is!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteit is pretty, though.

That view reminds me of open plains outside Wagga at Coolamon - when I was on a school trip with an aboriginal guide who showed us sacred sites. Adore the title of your post!

ReplyDeleteI wish you a Happy New Photo Year!
Love those vast Australian skies!
ReplyDeleteA great panoramic view Stewart - expressing well the vastness of this country. What is the mountain range in the background? Happy 2013 and looking forward to seeing more of your journey.

ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
Blue sky and cotton clouds are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Stewart. I also love the scale of this shot, the distance to the horizon and the sky!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Stewart... great scale on this photo. Must have been a wide angle lens.
ReplyDeleteAgreed - I love the wide open vista. A lovely shot.

ReplyDeleteWonderful photo Stewart! I am hoping to join Wild Bird Wednesday next week and meet some new friends. Wishing you all the best in 2013.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful sky. I know of at least two wonderful places for birding (not here) that are built at sewage/water treatment plants...great places for water birds, but some think it is hilarious to go to look for birds there.
ReplyDeleteSo - not a good place to cool off then!!
ReplyDeleteIt does look like it goes on forever in the distance. Nice effect.
ReplyDeleteHHHMMMmmm... so 'mud' is a euphemism, is it?? If you hadn't have said, I'd have thought it was an almost dried up lake!!! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous!
