If your week has been anything like mine, it's been busy! Far too much to do! So, in these situations, I delve back into the 'archives'!
These are some faces I found looking at me from the walls of Oxford during our trip there earlier in the year. Most of the faces are from around the doors of the Bodleian Library, and the one with the flowers is from Balliol College.
I rather like them, and I wonder who they are.

You can find more pictures from around the world here at Our World Tuesday.
These are so interesting! Wish I knew who they were also...perhaps famous statesmen or writers. You asked about the mule deer...I took the shots from my deck mostly. They are all over the neighborhood here, and a trail comes right behind our house. Crooked River Ranch is a 1500 acre preserve that is also a neighborhood. We have cougars here too, but though I would LOVE to see one, I would be nervous! :-) Someone told about coming home to one laying on their front porch! :-) We have coyotes, of course and we have great horned owls and loads of other birds, as you can see from my posts. I've seen a couple of owls, but no pictures yet. I understand the deer used to be more prolific but disease that affects them (but not humans) have brought their numbers down. Also the cougars have done their part. So it's always good to see healthy deer roaming about! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteall hail the mighty archive
ReplyDeleteHari om
ReplyDeleteThose are expresively impressive! YAM xx
Those are great. So expressive.
ReplyDeleteInteresting indeed. I would imagine there is a way to check the identities. Some archive somewhere must have that information.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing writers and/or prominent figures from the college's history
ReplyDeleteInteresting faces..lot's of character..distinctive..They must be actual people..so different..Great shots..
ReplyDeleteI like this post a lot.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
You found some friendly faces!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, lived close to Oxford for some time between South Africa and France. Freezing here in the UK, anything under 20C to me is cold!!!! Diane
ReplyDeleteAwesome sculptures. Wish there was a plaque explaining who they are so we can be enlightened.
ReplyDeleteVery stoic faces- I wonder who they were.
ReplyDeleteHa - you need to be on one of those student tours, they would tell you. Am I way out thinking that first one looks like William Shakespeare? You're in my hometown, well actually we are closer to Swindon but we never admit that so I will check it out for you when I am next there!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting!
ReplyDeleteSince this is a library, and part of a librarian's job is to find answers to questions - Ask a Librarian!
Hope you are having a great week!
Wonderful faces. Sometimes the architecture is so overwhelming that one does not notice the details - like these faces.
ReplyDeleteA fascinating collection here Stewart. I agree with Wandering Wren that the first face might be William Shakespeare. I was blessed to live in Oxford for 2 years and its architecture still impresses me. However, life through the eyes of a 24 year old was considerably different than it is some 46 years later and I like to think I would be more inquisitive of my surroundings were I to re-visit now! Thanks for sharing this reminder of a unique period in my life. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas. (I'll be spending time in Victoria over the next few weeks and look forward to further exploring my favourite Australian State.)
