These Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) were gathered on the wharf as we came in from the Whale Watching trip. I rather liked the way they were lined up on the metal rails.
As I mentioned last week, I will be up to my eyes in work this week - but with luck I may get to see a few birds in the off work hours. There is always hope!

Just for a bit of a change, I converted one one the image to black and white - I think these pictures suit that process.

I especially liked the monochrome version. I must try that more often as it can be very effective. Will drop by later to link up.
ReplyDeleteThe way they all line up facing the same direction makes one wonder what do they know is coming from that direction?
ReplyDeleteThe last one is good too, in a different way.

ReplyDeleteI do like gulls... and the Aussie Silver Gulls are so delicate compared to the hulking great Herring and Black-backs round here!!! YAM xx
Very sociable and opportunistic! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteHi.. nice photos. My favourite is the black and white one.
ReplyDeleteYes I must remember myself to convert some of my images to B & W as I do that your conversion. Thanks for hosting and have a good week. I am in Scotland at present.
ReplyDeleteYour shots are great...seagulls are not my favourite birds, though.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Nice setting for the gulls, it is interesting when animals align like that. Best of luck with your busy week!
ReplyDeleteEach his own place:)
ReplyDeleteVery nice images Stewart.

Great photos and I love the black and white. Just perfect for these birds. Enjoy the rest of the week, Diane
ReplyDeleteThey are probably waiting for food..Love the B/W version..I have done that frequently while editing..by mistake..Don't work too hard...
ReplyDeleteThan you Stewart
ReplyDeleteGulls are serious narcissists. Will pose for hours.
ReplyDeleteYou captured a nice series of pictures with the gulls.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the color in this case, because the blues are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI find black and white photos always look more artsy. Gulls are pretty ubiquitos where I come from Newfoundland and Labrador. Their calls can still take me back.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the line of gulls. I know I'm having a great day when I see plenty of gulls. A.K.A. Beach!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series of pictures! Se you soon! Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteWith gatherings of gulls, it's very hard to spot any oddish looking ones. I've spent many an hour ......
