On the walk home from work last week I spotted this silver Christmas globe on a dry stick fence - and I thought it would be an opportunity for that most rare of things, a self-portrait.
Its a funny time of year to walk home - some houses are still decked with holly, some have placed the tree on the nature strip in the hope that it will be taken away, some have placed the tree back into the outdoor pot where it lives for 11.5 months of the year, but have forgotten to remove all of the decorations.
I can't help but wonder how long the red ribbons will stay on the trees in my street.

Innovative and creative selfie :)

ReplyDeleteStewart, a cool selfie! Great reflection capture. Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDelete:) :) :)
ReplyDeleteCreative photo!
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked because I didn't receive a single Calendar for Christmas (last year I got three) and my walls have looked very bare since January 1st!
Quite a creative shot!! I will be taking my decorations down this week. Always makes me sad for a day or two!!
ReplyDeleteI'm always so happy to have my house back after Christmas! Love your reflection in the silver globe. What a great idea for a photo!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture Stewart, the reflection in the bauble is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea.
A fun, creative shot for the day, Stewart!! Hope you have a wonderful new week!!
ReplyDeleteVery creative self-portrait!
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you that I have tried to take pictures of round reflective balls that people have in thier yards and finally gave up on it because I couldn't figure out how to get my already round body made to look rounder out of the reflection. And then you come along and call it a self portrait. Aren't you the clever one. I note that you do look so overly rounded so I have to assume that my body starts out much rounder than yours. This is really a beautiful and creative shot Stewart. You are always thinking, right? It is -18 here today ... hope you are enjoying your warm wether:)
ReplyDeleteAndrea @From The Sol
You're wearing shorts?! Oh wait, it's Australia, that's right.
ReplyDeleteOOPs ... I meant to say you don't look overly rounded. Not a good time to make a mistake, huh? Sorry about that:)
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
ha ha. i thought the shorts were funny, too, for a moment. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it Stewart!
ReplyDeleteHere it's lights.. people like to decorate their trees & yards & more with strands & strands of Christmas lights, and it's interesting to see how long some of them remain.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the bareness left when removing the tree & things from the living room. But I like it, adds to the feeling of a New Year. A little empty at first.
Great selfie, Stewart - it's like a picture within a picture! Very nice.
That poor lonely bauble must have been very pleased to see you making a fuss of its shiny face.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thing to stumble upon. I wouldn't have thought to use it to do a self-portrait. I'm glad you did though, because it came out beautifully. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteSupposedly, 'selfie' is the new word of the year -- you are right up-to-date there! I seem to remember that we always found one or two more ornaments on our tree after we hauled it outside to the compost heap (back in Oregon when we still owned a house there).
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever way to produce a self-portrait! I, too, marvel at how quickly one gets used to the holiday sparkle and clutter. Things do seem bare without it for a while.
ReplyDeleteLove It!!!!!!
